Abstract
This paper reports on the development of an innovative method of carrying out co-mentoring, focusing on reciprocity and equal power relationships in a rapid, short-term process. This ‘Reflective Co-Mentoring’ method was developed at a tertiary college, part of a Scottish University. Course evaluation, which used qualitative semi-structured interviews, had identified positive outcomes in terms of time-effective opportunities to meet colleagues in safe spaces, and to have supportive discussions often leading to progress in decision making. We conclude that Reflective Co-Mentoring has the potential to offer time-effective and resource-light co-mentoring that can enhance collegiality, problem solving and reflection.
