ROBINSON (Horizon 2020) Project Summary

The ROBINSON project, funded under the European Union's Horizon 2020 program, is focused on developing and deploying an integrated, smart energy system to decarbonize industrialized islands. The project aims to demonstrate how a combination of renewable energy sources, energy storage solutions, and waste-to-energy technologies can create a self-sufficient and sustainable energy supply tailored for islands with significant industrial activities.

Objectives:

Integrated Energy System Development:

Design and implement an intelligent energy management system that seamlessly integrates various renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and biomass.
Incorporate advanced energy storage solutions to balance supply and demand effectively.
Utilize waste-to-energy technologies to convert waste streams into valuable energy, reducing environmental impact.
Decarbonization Efforts:

Reduce carbon emissions on industrialized islands by optimizing energy production and consumption.
Provide a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, enhancing energy security and reducing environmental footprints.
Replication and Scalability:

Develop a scalable and replicable model that can be applied to other islands and remote communities.
Facilitate knowledge transfer and share best practices to promote widespread adoption of sustainable energy systems.
