个人简介

Research Expertise

I work with people through creative engagement, participation and collaboration using a range of media, including digital drawing, film, sound, textiles and photography.  Processes of reciprocity and exchange foster meaning and creative agency for projects which are often inter-generational and cross-cultural, spanning the northern and Arctic regions.  The geopolitical consequences of contemporary societal threats underpin long term projects, Cold War Projects, a collaboration with artist Susan Timmins, and Landscape in Pain.

I work within different communities, such as the diverse learning community, generated by our MA Art and Social Practice, my home community, Shetland, or the international networks fostered by connections through these communities. The relationship between virtuality, socially engaged art and higher education brings together my research-based art practice and pedagogical practice, as in Repositioning Practice (2018-19).
