Teaching Expertise

Teaching Expertise
As Head of Gaelic Teacher Education at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and Programme Leader of BA (Hons) Gaelic and Education, I teach across all three of our Teacher Education programmes - BA, PGDE and Primary and MEd Foghlam Gàidhlig | MEd Gaelic Education.

I am also the co-leader of the Gaelic Core Hub of the Centre for Teaching Excellence, based at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. https://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/ismt/?lang=en  

As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, I have a wide range of experience in leadership, influence and teaching at HE.

My most recent expertise is in Gaelic initial teacher education stemming from over 16 years class based practise within the primary school sector, including school management (experienced head teacher) and Gaelic literacy resource creation and development. I am an experienced practitioner within all stages of pre-school and primary in Scotland using Curriculum for Excellence in both Gaelic and English.

Research interests
My research interests include Gaelic education, leadership in education, immersion education and play-led learning at pre-school and primary age in minority languages.

I created and oversee the development of Beag Fhaclair for Gaelic teacher education vocabulary: https://canva.link/faclair 

Additionally I have a deep interest in Gaelic visual arts, culture and music.
