Dr Eilidh MacPhail, Programme Leader for the MSc Sustainability and Rural Regeneration, and the MRes Sustainability, teaches across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Her teaching and research interests focus on rural and island areas, with a focus on public policy and governance, community development, and land reform and community land ownership.
Online education and sustainability skills development are also areas of interest, with over 15 years experience working in these areas, and she has also supported initiatives to improve staff capabilities around student mental health. Eilidh’s work underpins UHI’s mission to support sustainable, inclusive development across rural and island regions.

- PhD in Governance, University of Strathclyde (Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded) ‘The Europeanisation of the Scottish Executive: exploring variations across different modes of governance’, with a focus on the Structural Funds, State Aid, Employment and Social Inclusion
