Research Interests
Following postgraduate studies in Health Psychology, Eileen worked in research with the NMAHP Research Unit at University of Stirling where she developed a specialism in using qualitative methods within mixed method studies. Research interests focus on psychosocial determinants of mental and physical wellbeing and the development and evaluation of interventions which take a psychosocial approach to managing health and wellbeing. More recently, an MSc in Counselling has led to a research interest in trauma counselling and recovery, along with the impact of neurodivergence and trauma on neural pathways. She is also interested in organisational health and wellbeing, particularly in the impacts of stress on health behaviours. Specific research interests include:
- The psychology of physical health and behaviour change
- Psychosocial determinants of mental health and recovery
- Interactions between physical and mental health
- Recovery from trauma
- Stress management
