Description
This project brings together musicians from the Gairloch area and beyond to explore sound in relation to the geology of Wester Ross. A new composition called 'Geological Excursion: Gairloch', uses geology maps to create musical structures and relationships. Listening to deep time involves making an imaginative leap between the vibrating present and the ever so slow rhythms of geomorphology. Within the music being played in this performance, we can expect to hear sounds that are layered like sedimentary rock, interruptions arising like scourie dykes and textures both lumpy and varied like breccia.
