Resumo

The success and reputation of Sorley MacLean as international poet has tended to obscure (or displace) his lifelong research in the history and traditions of the Hebrides. This paper builds on the widening disciplinarity of historical studeis to remind ourselves how vitally important the poet has been as historian.
