Research Expertise

Active in the fields of sound design, sound engineering, acoustic ecology and archaeoacoustics. This overlaps with with work in music production and musicology specific to culture and heritage. MSc by research completed at ECA Edinburgh University in Sound Design, research project and dissertation in field recording techniques of impulse responses and convolution reverb. The main focus of the field work is archaeoacoustics and acoustic ecology; the archival and preservation of acoustic signatures of historic and heritage sites particularly in Scotland. This is one facet of the multi-disciplinary field of research known as archaeoacoustics. Several conference presentations and an internationally published article "Sampling the Past" published in the Journal of Acoustic Ecology, 2013. Conference output has included a collaborative project with Dr. Paul Oliver; Reimagining Space, Leeds College of Music International Festival of Artistic Innovations and Perth Archaeology Month. Forthcoming conference presentation and book chapter for the 3rd International Archachaeoacoustics Conference, Tomar, Potugal, 3 October 2017.
