Presentation and discussion with S1 and S2 pupils in the Baltasound Junior High School who took part in the project Nordic Connections about the artists' experience of the Cold War and some of the things they learned about it. They share their work in Cold War Projects following discussion about their experience of growing up during the Cold War in North America.

Web site for Cold War Projects, the umbrella name for the artists Susan Timmins's and Roxane Permar' collaborative work based on perceptions of the Cold War on both sides of the Iron Curtain. There is a page for each project as well as news. The collaborative partners aspire to develop work that can be shared across cultural and political borders. They chronicle issues that ordinary people of both East and West faced during the Cold War, including audiences of all ages in the questions posed by this period because because the Cold War holds relevant lessons today. They are based in Shetland and, like other Northern communities, Shetland was strategically very important during the Cold War. There is evidence remaining throughout the islands of listening stations, bunkers and radar installations from this period. Their interest in the role Shetland played in the Cold War has extended to neighbours in the northern and Arctic regions. They use different forms of art to explore the strategic role the populations of these communities played in relation to international conflict throughout the 20th century, with specific reference to the Cold War.
