Prosopographical information on Margaret Forrat. Forrat, Margaret (b.1624, d. 1653) was the daughter of John Forrat and the sister of Captain Alexander Forrat who both stood in Swedish military service. She was the second wife of Sir James Spens of Wormiston (d. 1632) whom she married in 1624. Together they had two children Axel and Jacob Spens who also served the Swedish crown. Two years before his death in 1632 James Spens made a will which afforded some protection to Margaret. It stipulated.....
