Résumé

This collective volume highlights contributions which investigate intermediality: the ways that the traditional forms of predominantly oral cultures (poetry, song and story) can be transformed by the uses of hybrid forms and new digital technologies. It sets out to offer innovative strategies to enable the culture and languages within peripheral regions on the Atlantic Arc not just to survive but to flourish. Intermedial Art Practices as Cultural Resilience thus investigates inter- and pluri-mediality in the contemporary cultural practices of Scotland and Brittany, two regions whose institutional exclusion has given rise to assertions of national identity and cultural revivals, and that are engaged in a cognate struggle to maintain their multiple identities in the face of an increasingly urbanised and globalised culture.
