Huguenot and non-Conformist networks: Philip Dupont in late Stuart Suffolk

Résultats de rechercheRevue par des pairs

Résumé

This research follows the life and career of Philippe Loumeau du Pont, a young Huguenot from the Angoumois, who is linked with an Anglican vicar, Philip Dupont, who took the vow of conformity in 1686. This is significant research, allowing for the correction of key genealogies, such as that of Francois Loumeau Dupont, the pastor of the French Church in Edinburgh. It also establishes a Huguenot-Anglican network in Eastern England, stretching north to Scotland, which was aided by existing contacts amongst the Presbyterian gentry, and leading merchants.
