Résumé
Air-fuel mixing is a key element in conventionally fuelled hypersonic airbreathing engines-for example scramjets. In this paper, new and innovative methods of effectively achieving such mixing are discussed. In particular, the advantages of dynamic or moving fuel injectors are outlined, and research showing their benefits is highlighted. It is suggested that a combination of these and other injection methods can produce an effective and practical way of achieving a well-integrated stoichiometric mixture, covering the entire required volume.
