Description of project aims
Fisheries landings of Nephrops norvegicus (also known as the Dublin Bay Prawn, Norway lobster and langoustine, among other names) are around 59,000 tons a year with a first sale value of close to 200 million. The 'NEPHROPS Project' is intended to bring together complementary information from survey, experimental and laboratory work. This combination of approaches is intended to create synergies and the transfer of information between different research groups, small to medium enterprises (SMEs), SME associations and groupings.

Web resource has been created to provide fishermen, small to mediuim enterprises, associated groups and educational schemes with the knowledge and skills to utilse the techniques and technology that was developed in conjuction with the EU FP7 NEPHROPS Project.
