Research Interests

I am the course leader for the MRes Psychology and a lecturer on the BSc Psychology and MSc Psychological studies course. I am also the research co-ordinator for the psychology department. My research area of expertise is in Wellbeing and Health as it relates to areas of spirituality and the psychology of Religion.  I work closely with Academics within Scotland, England and internationally as well as third sector groups in order to increase spiritual competency in the psychological spaces and therefore increase wellbeing.

Current and past projects include:

- Creation of spiritually informed psychological care for people experienceing complicated grief and existential threat following suicide bereavement.

- Identity, bullying and wellbeing among school children with a focus on spiritual flourishing.

- Rural health care in Scotland

- Spirituality and wellbeing in the Theraputic space.

- Religious belief and mental wellbeing

I am co-lead of the U.K Psychology of Religion Working group: A group of academics in London and Scotland focusing on the area of mental health, wellbeing and spirituality. This working group has produced high quality publications in this area and currently working on a qualitative meta synthesis considering the question of complicated grief, suicide bereavement and spirituality in rural areas.
