“Rural health geography” refers to the study of geographical variations in aspects of health and health services provision within rural areas and between rural and urban areas. Geographers have used quantitative, statistical techniques to look at geographies of disease incidence and health service access. Qualitative methods and theoretical approaches linked to health geography have also been used to understand the lived experience of rural ill-health.
