Resumen

The very long baseline interferometer (VLBI) can achieve the highest angular resolution imaging of any telescope at radio wavelengths using thousand-kilometre baselines. The deployment at the center for high angular resolution astronomy (CHARA) array of new beam combiners has enabled the imaging capabilities of the array. CHARA can now obtain images with an angular resolution similar to the VLBI but using hundred-metre baselines. This is achieved by operating the array at the shorter wavelengths of optical and infrared light. We review the successful deployment of the Michigan infrared combiner at the CHAR Aarray and discuss some of the imaging results from this instrument.
