Description of project aims
To address risks in the fisheries sector, improve stock assessments, and contribute to the short- and long-term sustainability of Europe's fisheries, PANDORA aims to:
1. Improve fish stock assessments by including existing and new biological data;
2. Develop recommendations for the short- and long-term sustainable management of the EU's fleets; and
3. Create a public, internet-based tool box (PANDORA's Box of Tools) with stock and economic models as well as training courses and manuals for a variety of stakeholders and practitioners.
The PANDORA project will be conducted in 7 case study (CS) regions across Europe. With this case study approach, PANDORA helps ensure high impact by considering the existing differences among Europe’s regional seas in the provision of knowledge and tools needed to improve fisheries management.
At NAFC Marine Centre, Dr Katie Brigden is involved in PANDORA's pilot industry self-sampling programme.
