Research Expertise
Research on phytoplankton has created impact through contributions to understanding and assessment of eutrophication. This has led more recently to work on pelagic ecosystem health that has influenced Defra's approach to monitoring UK waters for the MSFD
I am a biological oceanographer studying and numerically modelling phytoplankton in relation to marine physical processes, with applications to eutrophication and the health of marine ecosystems, and now the Research Area leader of the Laurence Mee Centre for Society and the Sea.
