Research Interests

Henry is the Director of the Institute for Agronomy and Agriculture at UHI Orkney. His expertise includes applied plant pathology, IPM, agroecology, social sciences, knowledge exchange and project management. He is a member the British Crop Production Council Weeds Expert Group, the Scottish Society for Crop Research, the Scottish Voluntary Initiative (VI) and he is also a VI Champion. He sits on the organising committee for the British Crop Production Council Congress and Crop Production in Northern Britain. Henry is an Associate Editor for Crop Protection.

After completing his PhD in plant ecology and pathology at the John Innes Centre (UK) in 2013, Henry worked as a Crops Researcher for the Organic Research Centre (UK) where he was involved in large European projects on agricultural systems and plant breeding. In 2015, Henry moved to Teagasc (Ireland) where he worked to improve IPM approaches to arable farming and increase adoption of best practice at farm level. In 2017, he moved to Edinburgh to take up a Lectureship position in the Crop Protection team at SRUC. He joined UHI Orkney in 2024.
