Abstract

Things Unseen is an exhibition of print and poetry, based on research and creative development relating to marine sciences. Orkney-based artist Anne Bevan collected sand samples from beaches in Shetland, North Uist and Japan, focusing on the microscopic organisms they contain, and their other-worldly sculptural beauty when magnified. To the scientific research material and the visual dimension, she has added responses to the material from some of Scotland’s finest poets. Anne’s collaborators on the project are Kate Darling, Ian Butler, Janice Galloway, Jen Hadfield, Robert Alan Jamieson and Alan Spence.
