Students often ask module coordinators and invigilators “when will I get my results?” Other assessment related queries are common and although the answers to some of these questions can be found in student handbooks and University web pages, we developed Frequently Asked Questions (FQAs) based on assessment, specifically for students.

The FAQs were “announced” on Succeed (Blackboard) and uploaded to the appropriate assessment folder in the BSc Nursing Programme. We “tracked” the “hits” over a 2 month period, January and February 2014.

By the end of January 2014, five students in the 2011 (2%) and 24 (7%) in the 2013 cohort had accessed the FAQs. However by the end of February, 175 (76%) of the 2011 cohort had accessed the FAQs and 336 (99%) of the 2013 cohort.

We also noted that 2011 cohort students were more likely to access FAQs on the day of submission of an assessment and 2013 students were more likely to access FAQs on the day prior to submission.

There was also a difference in the time of day students accessed the FAQs. The 2011 cohort students were more likely to access FAQs between 0900-1500, and the 2013 cohort, between 1400-2200.

There is clear evidence that students access material on Succeed and probably read it too.
