    Abstract

RELATE NORTH 2015 Culture, Community & Communication was the fourth annual group exhibition of ASAD (Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design). The works in the exhibition were wide ranging in their approaches to cultural diversity, community outreach projects and the communicative role the arts play in northern climes. The exhibition in the Kimora Gallery had art works from different artists from the United States, Canada, Scotland, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Shetland. Northern Exchange was exhibited by Roxane Permar and Susan Timmins. It is an ongoing project designed to collect and share people's memories and perceptions of the Cold War from both sides of the former "Iron Curtain”. Additionally visitors to the exhibition were invited to contribute their thoughts and images using the blank triangles provided, which will in turn become part of this growing project realised in collaboration with Susan Timmins. Permar and Timmins also led a workshop open to the public during which they made contributions to Northern Exchange.
