Abstract
This paper describes an implementation method for power saving within the data layer of simple microcontroller-based publish-subscribe field buses. The algorithm exploits the relative differences in the power consumption of the network elements through the use of a novel association algorithm. The method allows early cancelling of irrelevant messages within the reception time of the message identifier. The paper reports the results of the power-saving method when applied to a distributed reactive control architecture.
