Abstract
Of all the hurdles to be overcome when embarking on outcomes measurement, this article is concerned with just one, that of obtaining information on the range and suitability of instruments for measuring the outcomes of nursing practice. This includes finding out which instruments are available, which are ‘best’ for their intended application, and how they are supposed to be used.
