Abstract
Northern Exchange is in the exhibition catalogue for the exhibition Relate North: Culture, Community & Communication at the Kimura Gallery. Two pieces, Curtains, were exhibited, each comprising 73 individual triangles inscribed with texts and drawings from individual participants in the project. Contributions were from Russia, North America, Scotland and Shetland. Northern Exchange is an ongoing project designed to collect and share people's memories and perceptions of the Cold War from both sides of the former "Iron Curtain”. Visitors to this exhibition were invited to contribute their thoughts and images using the blank triangles provided, which in turn have become part of this on-going project.
