Cases of children’s participation in global contexts

Victoria Johnson, Andy West

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This chapter provides an introduction to the case studies used to explore children's participation in research and evaluation. The case studies were selected in order to provide richness of data, grounds for detailed reflections, and access to participants who had been involved at different levels and in different roles in the research and evaluations. In addition to this the cases were considered in terms of contrasting different contexts and time frames. The chapter provides short outlines of the cases, followed by a section on the background to case selection and time lines involved, and finishing with a look at the global contexts and a short description of the programme operation of the projects involved. The cases that are profiled in this chapter were chosen and assessed against criteria based on those put forward by J. Lofland and L. H. Lofland. The case studies are set in different global contexts in Asia and the UK.
