Abstract

The stress-strain material law proposed by Megalooikonomou and Papavasileiou (2019) was integrated to the OpenSEES open source software as a uniaxial material model named 'FRPConfinedConcrete'. To verify the efficacy of this material model, it was assessed against experiments which were performed on square reinforced concrete columns repaired with Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (FRP) under cyclic lateral loading and simultaneous compressive axial load (2005). Specifically, all specimens were simulated with fiber beam-column elements, where the confined concrete was simulated using the aforementioned material model. The comparison between the numerical and experimental hysteresis behaviour of the column is indicative of the effectiveness of the simulation method adopted.
