Project Details
Description of project aims
Slow Adventure Ltd is an ethical tour operator that has just launched its web site and online booking platform with arrange of slow adventure experiences in Scotland, Italy and Sweden. It is keen to expand the range of regions and regional businesses that it works with. It wants to know which regions in Scotland would be ideal new areas for the development of new responsible tourism packages/products (aka slow adventures).
This Innovation Voucher focused on the development of a methodology that would assess whether a region of Scotland is ready for the next phase of slow adventure development. This methodology was tested and refined so that it can then develop new products in these regions. Factors to consider within the methodology included:
• Green accreditation
• Existing good practice examples of responsible tourism
• Physical infrastructure
• Business support infrastructure
• Community buy-in to responsible tourism development
• Overtourism issues that might need to be taken into account
• Existing slow adventure tourism suppliers
• Strategies or policies in place, such as destination management plans
