Phosphorus speciation and bioavailability of sewage sludge derived biochar

Project Details

Description of project aims

This project investigates the phosphorus availability and environmental safety of sewage-sludge-derived biochar for potential agricultural reuse. Using biochars produced through previous research, the study evaluates phosphorus solubility and bioavailability alongside macroelement and heavy-metal content and leaching behaviour. The research links these properties to biochar characteristics, supporting the safe recovery and recycling of phosphorus within a wastewater-based circular economy.
