Description of project aims
This is a pipeline study which aims to firstly examine the use of Scots language in Scottish comedy media clips, employing critical discourse analysis to explore the positioning of the language within these texts. Results from this first stage of the research will inform an attitudinal study of Scots language in Scottish comedy, gathering data from target participants across Scotland who are privy to said texts. The final stage of the study will involve obtaining data from individuals who hold an insider perspective on Scottish comedy and media.
