Shaun is a Fisheries Scientist with an interdisciplinary background currently working in the Fisheries Team within the Marine Science and Technology Department. He is involved in a range of research projects and stock assessment work related to the management of inshore fisheries. Shaun also supports the ongoing data collection and sampling for the Shetland Shellfish Management Organisation and Marine Scotland Science.

Shaun graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a BSc (Hons) in Geophysics in 2009.
Following a placement as an Environmental Consultant at Xodus Group he began his research at the University of Aberdeen (School of Engineering and School of Biological Sciences). In 2017, Shaun completed his interdisciplinary PhD, titled “Acoustic Investigation of the Hydrodynamics and Ecology of a Tidal Channel and the Impacts of a Marine Renewable Energy Installation”.
Shaun joined NAFC in his present position in 2017, where he is involved in a range of research projects.
