Lucie received her PhD from Dauphin Island Sea Lab (USA) and spent 17 years in the USA focusing her research on applied phycology including algae cultivation, algal product development, polycultures cultivation, photobioreactor design, wastewater treatment, harmful algal blooms, phytoplankton ecology, benthic-pelagic coupling and the role of microalgae in heavy metal transfer. Upon her arrival to UK, Lucie continued to work in the industry using microalgae to treat variety of wastewater streams and to generate products from the accumulated algal biomass.
In June 2019, Lucie joined Professor Michele Stanley’s team focusing on developing innovative products from algae with potential for commercial application.

Lucie has worked for three commercial companies focusing on algal phycology: Algae Systems (USA), Cellana (USA) and Industrial Phycology (UK).
