I am a Project Officer at the Centre for Recreation and Tourism Research, UHI North, West and Hebrides, Scotland. My primary research interests lie in community-led and regenerative tourism, where I focus on approaches that enable tourism to deliver social and environmental benefits. I lead collaborative projects, working closely with local communities and integrating sustainability into project design and delivery.
I specialise in community and regenerative tourism, adopting participatory and co-creative methods that foster long-term community well-being and environmental stewardship. I am enthusiastic about innovative practice and enjoy incorporating emerging digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence, 360° video, and virtual reality, into my work to broaden engagement and interpretation.
Before joining CRTR, I managed a community-driven heritage programme to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden, coordinating around 90 distinct local events and projects across the Scottish and English borders. I have mapped land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) carbon footprints for Highland Council, and supported householders in Lochaber to lower their carbon footprints through the Climate Challenge Fund. My research experience includes preparing community development plans for rural areas and facilitating community engagement initiatives.
