Research Interests
I am a Research Associate at the Centre for Recreation and Tourism, UHI North, West and Hebrides. My main research interest lies in the interrelationship between cultural heritage and sustainable tourism and much of my work at the centre has been focused on collaborating with communities and stakeholders to use local heritage stories in destination management. I have been involved in several transnational applied research projects and led or co-led at least 10 regional and national initiatives.
My professional background is in historical interpretation and museum curation. I am an experienced history lecturer on expedition cruise ships, including and am interested in using this background to examine how we can work with destinations and cruise companies to create a viable and regenerative cruise industry in Scotland.
