Based at the Centre for Health Science in Inverness, I work as a Lecturer within the Department of Nursing and Midwifery for The University of the Highlands and Islands.
I have 20 years nursing experience working with people with learning disabilities and their families across a range of settings. Latterly I specialised in working with people with learning disabilities whose behaviour was perceived as challenging using the framework of positive behaviour support. In addition I have been involved in a range of initiatives aimed at addressing the health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities and I continue to be involved in work in this area. I have an interest in the area of human rights in healthcare and the safeguarding of adults who may be at risk of harm.
