Research Interests

My research interests are in two major areas, within the disciplines of Sociology and Education.

Up to now, my main research area has been bisexual Christian intersectional identities, particularly in the area of wellbeing. This was the topic of my PhD at the University of Winchester and my monograph with Palgrave/Springer International.

More recently, on relocating from Hampshire to the Highlands, I have widened my focus to student engagement, specifically the issue of elective silence in the physical classroom environment.

I currently teach on the HNC Social Sciences programme at UHI Inverness. I have previously worked as an Access to HE Social Sciences lecturer at Andover College in Hampshire and as a Research Officer within Learning & Teaching at the University of Winchester.
