Research Interests

I am a deep-sea ecologist interested in seafloor communities susceptible to anthropogenic activities. I use photographic data from underwater vehicles (AUVs, ROVs, video sleds) to perform quantitative biological community assessments. Currently, I am applying machine learning models to aid species identification for biological monitoring and assessment in Greenland.

Other locations I have researched include the Northeast Atlantic and the Central Eastern Pacific, specifically the Clarion-Clipperton Zone, an area targeted for deep-sea mining. I have also worked on microplastic pollution and engage in environmental outreach.

In my PhD, I will apply machine-learning models to analyse sensitive marine habitats on the shelf and shelf edge of Greenland to better understand the impacts of fisheries and climate change.
