Organisation profile

The Land and Forests research team developed from the Scottish School of Forestry and strong links with regional and international forestry sectors.

Based at Inverness College UHI in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland the Land and Forests team aims to build connections with forest users, explore management issues and study the biodiversity of forests within a wider landscape.  Three research areas represent the growing expertise base of this team :

  • Timber Technology
  • Forest biodiversity
  • Forests and People

This team continues to grow by developing postgraduate research, applied research with strong industry links, community engagement and entrepreneurship.  Primarily the team aims to raise awareness and participate in knowledge exchange to encourage a better future for our forests and landscape.
