Dr Pritchard's research group investigates three main areas, centred around the study of melanoma. These include:

a) The genetics of melanoma susceptibility: what makes someone more likely to develop melanoma? What increases the risk of melanoma development in certain families?

b) The genomics of melanoma: what changes to the genome of melanoma drive the initiation, development and progression of melanomas?

c) The immunological control of melanoma: how does the immune system recognise melanoma cells? How do melanoma cells escape the immune system control?

Dr Pritchard's research group is interested in all types of melanoma, including skin, acral (sole of feet/palm of hands and fingernail beds), uveal (eye) and mucosal (e.g. oral, nasal, rectal) melanomas.
