Organisation profile

The Centre for Interpretation Studies (CIS) was launched in July 2007 as a centre of excellence to champion innovative and sustainable interpretation.   We carry out applied research and advise and support individuals, communities, businesses and organisations in delivering interpretation projects. Our work is designed to meet policy goals and create high-quality experiences that the public will enjoy while encouraging thinking and practices that are economically rewarding, environmentally sound and socially responsible. The CIS focuses on knowledge and skills development to support social, cultural and economic agendas and, specifically, tourism and education, both in Scotland and internationally.
