On Landward, research scientist Dr Roxane Andersen explains that in such an enormous landscape this 'carbon sink' as it is known, plays a crucial role.

She says, “In the Flow Country peatlands there’s more carbon than in all of the forests of Britain, twice,".

Dr Roxane Andersen argues that in the far north of Scotland a vast marshy landscape known as the Flow Country stretches across Caithness and Sutherland. At first glance it can seem a rather bleak place, but this land is thriving and playing a massive role in protecting against global warming.
