Description

Centre for Nordic Studies hosted this event as part of the ongoing open seminar series we have been running for the last 5 years. I gave this public lecture as part of the series. The lecture was entitled "The Victorian Rune Enthusiasts" and was about the 19th and early 20th century public respone to runes, specifically looking at the opening of Maeshowe, Orkney, in 1861, and the "discovery" (manufacture) of the (fake) Kensington Runestone in Minnesota in 1898.
