Description
SAFARI (Societal Applications in Fisheries & Aquaculture using Remotely-sensed Imagery) is a new international programme on the use of remotely sensed data as an aid to fisheries harvesting, research and fisheries management. It is affiliated to GEO and funded by the Canadian Space Agency for three years. The first planning workshop was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in late March 2008. A monograph is being produced in early 2009 and an international symposium will be held in late 2009 or early 2010.
