Description

Achaleven Primary School, Dunbeg Achaleven Primary School, Dunbeg. This was a combined talk and hands-on demonstration for P6/P7 students in a local primary school. We talked about large-scale concepts associated with planetary-scale heat and energy budgets, and conducted a hands-on demonstration of sea-ice melting and oceanic convection. The school visit was a big success: The talk/demonstration followed by a week a previous visit in which the students showed me their own work on the polar regions (they called it Polar Lands). The students were attentive, interested, and really enjoyed the demonstration.
