Abstract
Recent research surveys show that around 50 per cent of young people in the United Kingdom do not identify as “exclusively straight”. At the same time, there is increased tolerance of LGBT people. Yet the Western Christian church still all but ignores plurisexual sexualities as a reality or subject for debate, while monosexual same-sex relationships are tolerated provided they fit the monogamous partner-for-life paradigm. Transgender partnerships may also be welcomed, where a change in gender presentation enables a hitherto homosexual relationship to appear outwardly straight. This chapter seeks to explore the theoretical grounds for this erasure of bisexual Christian identities.
