Abstract
This section discusses a decorated slate disc, MA1, recovered from the single fill of sub-circular pit [1092], one of a pair of two pits containing Grooved ware pottery at Woodcock Corner, within the later enclosure. Radiocarbon determinations indicate that the pit was likely to have been filled in approximately the three centuries from 2900-2600 cal BC, placing the disc’s deposition firmly during the Late Neolithic. The following discusses the form, working and style of the slate disc and its decoration in the context of comparable artefacts from Britain and Ireland. The report also includes brief descriptions of two associated slate fragments, MA2, and MA2A, found with the disc.
