Abstract
Accommodating Islamic Tourists in Contemporary Mexico. While conjecture suggests that the first Muslims may have arrived in Mexico alongside the conquistadores, documented waves of Muslim migration are traceable from the nineteenth century onward. In recent decades, Islamic tourism has emerged as a significant and growing phenomenon within globalised travel markets. This presentation examines Mexico's appeal as a destination for Muslim tourists, assessing both its cultural receptivity to Islam and the extent to which its tourism infrastructure accommodates Islamic practices and preferences.
