Shetland Islands dominant marine biotope map (2025 update)

This dataset accompanies a report that provides an update to the Shetland Islands Dominant Marine Biotope Map (SI-DMBM), a predictive benthic model covering 28 biotopes (Level 4) within Shetland waters out to 12 nm. This latest update incorporates an additional 263 records and includes several methodological improvements; upgraded modelling framework using MaxEnt implemented in R and additional validation metrics. It also provides an updated estimate of potential blue carbon storage within the predictive sediment layer, originally assessed in 2025.
